Completed!
May 15, 2016 - Since April I finished the paint, windshield, final prep on the back, wired everything (lights, horn, etc.). Completed the wood dashboard. I completed the bike cart today and took it for a ride with my wife (Susan). Rode great.
April 2016: I've made a lot of progress in the past two months, so far so good. Finished all the mechanical and electrical elements, the dashboard and the outer body. I still need to add the front windshield, stain the wood dashboard and prime/paint the whole exterior. I'm going to paint it the "burnt orange" color. Trying to finish this up by May. Mostly waiting for the daily temperature to get up to around 70 degrees on average so that the paint will dry well. But it drives pretty good and weight is still pretty light - I can push it easily with one hand.
Jan 2016: Not much work done on this over the Holidays due to the busy time and the cold. The top picture is about where I'm at right now. Starting to get close to painting, and it will have to be warm to do that. So this is mostly on hold for a few months.
December 2015 Update: I started this "Rat Rod" two-person pedal bike in September 2015. Yes, it's mostly constructed of PVC. In order to be able to pedel it, it has to be light and others have had luck with PVC, if you do it right. I have the frame done and transmission/braking done. So far so good. Now working on the body detailing and the kinks here and there. Probably will take another 3-4 months to complete. I got this idea from people using old vintage bumper cars and turning them into street legal mini-cars. It was way too expensive to obtain an old bumper car (think thousands $) and I liked the challenge of trying it this way. We like to bike, so this might be fun.
