Wall-E Robot

Here is my new Wall-E robot that I completed over Christmas break 2017.  This was a relatively easy build, requiring about 16 total hours and about $200 to complete.  I used an Interactive Wall-E found on eBay and ez-robot.com robot components to make it work - arms and tractors move, head moves up/down/sideways, camera vision with object tracking, sounds and voice recognition!

I used the following items to complete the robot:
  1. Wall-E Interactive from eBay
  2. ez-robot.com:  EZ-B IoTiny, EZ-B Camera and the free software EZ Builder that makes it all work over WiFi
  3. 4 micro servos with metal gears (important)
  4. 2 regular continuous movement servos for the traction treads
  5. 1, 7.4v 1200mAh/30c LiPo battery
  6. Misc - Dremel (need a lot), soldering iron, hot melt glue gun,

See pictures below for the build.  Most of the work is disassembly of the old robot, throw away most of the existing inside stuff and carve out areas for the servo placement using the Dremel. Then hot melt glue in the servos. It took me a while to get the EZ-B camera to fit into the head of Wall-E.  It was a tight fit and the bottom of the camera had to hang out the bottom of the head just a little bit to fit.  I took apart an old mini camera to use the lens for the 2nd eye (for looks only).

For additional information about this, visit the ez-robot.com website and their Forum that has a TON of info about building this robot.

Welcome to my projects blog! I like to make and tinker with a lot of different ideas.  I like to use Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop, my Die Cutting machines (Silhouette Portrait and Cricut Explore), my 3D Printer and my garage workshop to build my projects.
